The Calendar Girls
Calendar Girls Special Event - June 10th. See photos of the event here.
Everyone knows the story: a group of extraordinary women, members of a very ordinary Yorkshire Women’s Institute (WI) group, persuade one another to pose for a charity calendar with a difference.
The Calendar Girls, as they became to be known, dedicated the calendar to John Baker who had died the previous year in 1998. They had no idea of the media sensation they would create.
![]() | Many other fundraising groups have since replicated the calendar idea across the globe with all sorts of themes. Now on sale, 2010 calendar featuring all new images of the original Girls. Angela Baker says: “We're constantly amazed at the response we still get to the calendar. I’m delighted to say we have raised over £1.5 million for Leukaemia Research and now we have a fantastic Stage show sharing our story! John would be tremendously honoured to know that we have achieved so much in his name." |
After nearly ten years of fundraising the Girls are as active as ever and have a busy schedule promoting the work of Leukaemia Research. You can meet them at a variety of events and buy their merchandise from our online shop. Their range includes jams and chocolates, stage show souvenirs, products that feature the sunflower, John’s favourite flower, and more – and of course the latest calendar.
| Support the Calendar Girls and you will be helping Leukaemia Research continue its vital blood cancer research work. We hope you enjoy your Calendar Girls experience! | ![]() |
